RJ: Elementary School Program

Our Restorative Justice school program (RJ) implements case management and restorative processes to assist in supporting youth in the Jefferson County Public School system.

We provide:

Onboarding Circles

With consent, a meeting is scheduled by the school to address any ongoing issues and to introduce VOA RJ to the parents/caregivers so they can learn how we can help.

Restorative Circles

The student, family, and school staff are gathered for a conversation, which is referred to as a circle. Circles are conducted by VOA RJ to address conflict between the student and his/her peers or school staff.

Needs Assessment

A psychosocial assessment takes place at the onboarding circle to identify family needs and learn about current resources in place. Components include: family dynamics, mental health history, finances, community resource involvement, etc.

Case Management

A case plan is developed based on the psychosocial assessment and connects the family to outside resources. We help with mental health resources, housing assistance, food and household items, clothing, shoes, school supplies including uniforms, and more.

School Partnership

VOA RJ will work with the family and school until the case plan is completed.
